5 Steps to Inspire Creativity and Innovations in Your Team
We all possess creativity and the potential to come up with innovative ideas, yet only a few companies are able to rise above the others. What is it that makes these million dollar companies so special? You may wonder that these companies have the most creative staff who are always capable of coming up with innovative ideas. This, however, is not the truth.
Then what’s the difference? The difference lies in how you instill creativity and encourage innovations. These companies train their staff to think differently. Here are some of the practices you can apply in your workspace so as to bring out the best from your employees.
1. Break the Ice to Encourage Teamwork
When in the office, many people often do not socialize much. They get into work zone and restrict their creativity and social behaviors. This can be a drawback when it comes to teamwork. We all get various creative ideas; however, only with teamwork can these be ideas be brought into reality. You can take up various activities in your office to build teams and encourage people in coming together and build a rapport. It can be ice-breaking activities such as a small competition.
2. Get Out of Daily Regimes and Workspace
A change in the daily regimes can permit your employees to get out of their work zone and help them socialize. You can arrange a day every month for such activities. It can be sharing of each other’s song playlists etc. Rachael Hollis, the famous author, got an idea to write a book from Demi Lovato’s song which was being played in their office!
3. Permit Experimentation, Even if the Idea Sounds Crazy!
Many multi-million companies originated by working on something crazy. If Gary Dahl can sell “Pet Rocks”, so can you! It may sound crazy to sell rocks as pets; however, it garnered more than today’s $74 million. Show trust in your employees, go ahead and do some crazy stuff!
4. Take the Risk
Be prepared to take risk. Do not take extremely huge risks, but if you can afford taking small risks, then don’t step back. If your employees come up with creative innovative ideas and you do not act upon them, they will be demotivated. If the idea becomes successful do give due credit to the employee and if it fails, still appreciate the employee for having an idea. This will encourage other employees to think out of the box ideas.
5. Celebrate the Risk, Not the Result
Even if the idea doesn’t bring success, do not feel sad. Your employee will already be distressed with the fact that you trusted them and their idea didn’t work. Instead, if you throw a party for celebrating the fact that you tried something new, your employees will be encouraged to think more creatively. Also, they’ll think more carefully the next time and eventually, you’ll get success.
Inspire and encourage your employees with these techniques to get their creative juices flowing. These practices also make your employees loyal to your company and make them willing to work for you.
